Club Captains Report

On Saturday the 30th June we had the Quarter Finals of the Joll Cup & Flights Competition.

It was a strange day on the weather front with a delayed start until 9.30am in the morning because of a frost on the greens.

The sky was blue with a lot of sunshine and no wind first thing in the morning.

Then in the afternoon it clouded over and started to rain towards the end of the days play.

The course and greens were looking great and playing well for the Joll Cup Quarter Finals.

We are down to the Semi-Finals in the Joll Cup & Flights Competition.

Joll Cup Semi-Final Draw:

Gary Crawford v Bruce Taylor.

Ivor Sarten v Robert Middleton.

Flights Semi-Final Draw:

Shane Weir v Robbie Busing.

Jeff Jane v Peter Bingham.

We ran a Saturday Sweep Competition for the Rest.  The Format was Stableford.

Sweep Results & Voucher Winners: Colin Upson 45 / Murray Peterson 41 / Barry Newlove 41 / Michael Loppy 41 / Kevin Mancer 40 / Gary Crawford 40 / Kerry Edgcombe 39 / Peter Bingham 39 / Kevin Stott 39.

There was only one two scored on the day and that was by Colin Upson on the 11th (six golf balls on the board).

I was playing with Colin on Saturday and watched him chip in for a birdy on the 9th hole and also chip in for his two on the 11th hole.

If I was Colin I would have gone down and bought a lotto ticket for Saturday nights draw because it was definitely his lucky day.

Raffle Results: S.Voyle / Pooch / Jeff Jane / Shane / Peter Loppy / John Chandler.

This Saturday the 7th July is the Semi-Finals of the Joll Cup & Flights Competition.

The Rest will have a Saturday Sweep Competition and the Format will be Stableford.

Thank You.

Steven Voyle.

PRO – TIP

TAKING YOUR TIME is a very important part of playing good consistent golf everything you do in your daily life reflects in the way you play THE GAME. Talking, walking, even driving a car should be done smoothly so that it becomes a natural rhythm in your swing. Arriving in good time to have a little warm up, feeling calm & ready to play. A good golfer is a boring golfer, down the fairway, up to the green, past the pin then into the hole. EASY PAR. TAKING YOUR TIME on the backswing is ESSENTIAL because you “don’t hit it going back ONLY ON THE WAY DOWN !!!!”  TAKE MORE TIME & become a BETTER GOLFER!!!

Good Luck & Good Golfing.

Professional John Garner.
