Club Captains Report

I am writing this report with the information that I have collected from other sources as I was not in Taranaki last weekend.

I do not have some of the information, but I will do my best so if someone or something is not in the report I apologize now.

On Saturday the 7th July we had the Semi-finals of the Joll Cup & Flights Competition.

The weather in Taranaki I have heard through the grapevine was overcast conditions with showery periods throughout the day.

Sounds like the weather that we had in Taupo and the rest of the country, pretty average at best.

The Finalists for the Joll Cup are Robert Middleton & Bruce Taylor.

The Finalists for the Flights are Robbie Busing & one other to be confirmed.

The Finals for the Joll Cup & Flights Competition will be played on the 21st July.

The Saturday Sweep was Stableford.

Results: Paul Rauputu 43 , Richard Hamel 41 , Colin Upson 41 , Ross Gall 41 , Greg Fowler 40 , Nathan Loppy 40.

There were no Twos scored on Saturday which is a first for a Saturday Club Competition this year.

Raffle Results: C.Beal, M. Loppy, Paul F , T.Butler , G.Fowler , Irish.

This Saturday the 14th July is the Joll Cup Match Play Spare Day.

The Format will be Stableford with a Count Your Putts Competition.

I have also heard through the grapevine that the greens are in a fantastic condition at the moment so that is why I have included a count your putts comp as well on Saturday.

I am expecting some low putting totals to be carded on Saturday from all the great putters we have at the Manukorihi Golf Club.

Note From Match Committee:

There will be a match committee meeting at 2.30pm this Saturday after golf as we have a Club Committee Meeting on Monday the 16th July.

Thank You.

Steven Voyle.

Manukorihi Club Captain.

Tony Bouterey and John Chandler both had a 2 at the 3rd, The best putter of the day was Scunny with only 23 putts, Colin Upson had a day to forget with a nett 80 to get the wooden spoon. See you all next week for the 3rd round of stroke play.

Saturday Ladies

Probably because of the uncertain weather we had only 6 ladies play on Saturday.  However, the rain stayed away, and we had only a little drizzle towards the end of the round.

Marie Rayner won the days nett competition on C/B from Jo Broadmore with a nett 70.  She gets the $5.00 voucher

Marie also won the Fraser Trophy over the two rounds.  Lesley Elliott also got a $5.00 voucher for a drawn two.

Putting results: Jo Broadmore 3pts-29 putts, Nicole Mancer 2pts-30 putts, Kath Alvis & Joy East 1 pt for 33 putts’

This Saturday is the 1st round of the RSA Trophy-nett.  The 9 Hole competition is Stableford.

Tuesday Ladies

Golf was again rained off this Tuesday, although the day cleared later.  Maybe we can fit the 2nd Round of Barbara Sharrock in at a later date.

Next Tuesday is a mixed 9&18 Hole round and there is also a committee meeting.

PRO – TIP

PRACTISING YOUR PUTTING is not charging up & down the green with 1 ball, the best way is to have a simple system. You need 5 balls & 4 tees. Push the 1st tee into the green 50 cms away from the hole, the 2nd tee a further 20 cms, the 3rd another 20 cms & the same with the 4th. Now try to hit the 5 balls into the hole from the closest tee. If you hole all 5 go to the next tee, if you miss one try again until you achieve all 5 into hole. There’s obviously something going wrong missing from such a short distance!!! If you hole all 5 from each tee this builds your confidence & lowers your scores. So get PRACTISING YOUR PUTTING!

Good Luck & Good Golfing
