Club Captains Report

Lofty’s report for last weekend was sent earlier in the week.

Paul Rauputu is apparently receiving heaps of phone calls asking for phone numbers for club champs’ opponents. Can you please ensure you get contact details of your next opponent at or after your next match. Thanks, it will give Paul’s phone a chance to cool down!!

Thanks, and good golfing.

Your Club Captain Lofty.

A dodgy looking morning brought a good number of 36 players with 8 from Inglewood and a visitor from Levin. The weather played ball along with Phil Wilson and John Vanders in Div 1 with 43 points

and Carl Beale with 42 points in Div 2. The bonus to the day was take your worst two scores away from your net and this went to Phil Wilson and Cliff Oxenham with net 52.

Two balls each for twos to Megan Christini, Kerry Edgecombe and Phil Wilson.

8 raffles given out with JC taking two.

Another great day at Manukorihi

Wednesday May 1 we are invited to play Ngamotu so please let me know if interested.

Happy golfing

Saturday Ladies

Saturday was cold & windy, and we all had our warm clothes on for the first time for many months. On Sunday morning we could see all that snow on the mountain and knew why it was so cold. Hopefully we get a few more warm days in April.

The 2nd Round of 18 Hole ladies Strokeplay was played on Saturday. The days comp was net however and the winners on the day were Jude Mita and Kath Alvis, both with net 71. Well done in the conditions ladies. Twos were drawn and went to Andrea Fraser & Lesley Elliott. $5.00 vouchers for you all.

Putting points went to Kath Alvis 3pts-28 putts, Jude Mita 2pts-29 putts and Christine Ogle & Joy East 1 pt. for 32 putts.

Frances Butler won the 9 hole comp with 15 stbf points.

The Weekend Pennant team played Inglewood at Manaia on Sunday 7th. Our winning run has ended and we had a loss 3 ½ to 1 ½ and stay on 6 points.

This Saturday the 3rd round of Strokeplay is to be played for the 18 hole ladies and the 9 hole competition is Starters Choice.

PRO – TIP

Golf is not an easy Game. Hopefully the tips provided have answered a few of your queries & improved your game. I know that some of you have printed them out so able to refer back when in trouble. Go one step more & PRACTICE, not on the course but out on The Range. There is an old saying that you practice making a score on the course, but you PRACTICE your swing on The Range. Try not to mix them up!!!

Have Fun with your game & remember I’m always available if you need help.

Good Luck & Good Golfing.

Professional John Garner.
