Club Captains Report
Hello to all. Hope we are enjoying our golf ….
Well, Top Dog is underway and teams have been made up. Robert has the draw up at the clubhouse for you to have a look.
Heading the field is; 1st Colin Upson and Steve (Plumb Bob) Voyle, followed by, in 2nd place, Murray Peterson and Sunstrike Broadmore. Next was 3rd, Robert Fraser and the Ace of Hearts Then in 4TH is the Sausage Maker and the Big Scallywag who are followed by the Construction Team from Butlers Building & Co with Cement and Chop Chop at number 5. Coming in at 6th was The Boss Mr. Titter and Phil Wilson and in at 7th place is the NZ underwater golf team of Ricey (Aquaman) and (Kaleen Edgecombe). The team to beat on my pick is in at 8th, Mike Burkhart and Waldorf LET HIM IN, not to be outdone at 9th is Teddy Big Bear Danych and Gazza the CLOWN Crawford, Good luck teams and enjoy.
(Ed note; I hope someone knows who these people are!!)
Well done to all who won the haggle and the raffles on the weekend. Dart took out the jackpot with two twos so well done there and hope to see you in a couple of weeks.
Good golfing this weekend, hope the weather is fine and your putts sink. JR is back at the helm this week as I am away AND I AM SURE Marie has it all under control.
Please remember those going on the club trip, JC is still after some money, cheers which needs to be paid up by the end of this month, please, thanks.
Playing on Saturday it was noticed that Martin Gump Nobbs was back to his old tricks and was only 4 fairways wide on one of the holes and the comment was made “I wonder if Marty has a didgeridoo with him, so he can be found, so next time you see him, ask him, thanks.
NOTE: The question was asked if you can move your ball if the old hole is in your line and the simple answer is NO, but you can repair the old hole if you wish.

Wednesday Club
Waitara New World
A great day after all the wet weather that we have had, good numbers turned out for a round of golf.
The best of the day was John Vanders with 44 points from David Butler and Jim Newlove on 42, Bryan Bellamy and Ted Danych both 41 points, Peter Loppy 40, and to finish the prize list was Carl Beale, Austin Wood, Geoff Peters Brett Kerr and John Chandler all 39 points, The best putter of the day was Bryan B with only 24 putts, there were no twos.
Raffle winners, Pete Wills, Geoff Peters, Lee Mather, Austin Wood, Jim Newlove, John Vanders, Richard Crowe, David Butler, and Greg Fowler picked up 2.
So far, we have eight pairs for the Wednesday Top Dog, get your names in by next Wednesday for a start on the 25th September.

Hello all, twilight starts on the 3rd October. Please print off the flyer and put up at your workplace.
Saturday Ladies
The ladies played in exceptionally warm conditions considering the forecasted high was 13 for the day, the day proved to be much warmer than that. The first round of saturday Top Dog was played, with Kath and Jude having a win over Nicole and Sue 2 up, and Andrea and Jo a win over Fiona and Trish 3/2. Sue had an awesome two on the third which was apparently close to being a hole in one - well done Sue winning a $10 voucher. The next Top Dog round will be on the 21st. This weekends competion will be stableford.
Manureing Cup.
This competition is an annual event played since 2002 when it was instigated by Judy Strong.. It is played between Manukorihi, Urenui and Inglewood.
Hence the Manu-Ure-Ing. The best 5 stableford from each club count to get the winner.
This year it was played on Friday 6th September. Urenui has won it more often than Manukorihi or Inglewood and held it again with a total of 180 by only 2 points from Manukorihi on 178. The day was enjoyed by all the ladies.
Tuesday Ladies
No golf today, too cold and wet so a coffee instead with those brave enough to turn up was perfect.

PRO – TIP
The Pitching Wedge is the most flexible club in your golf bag.
As I mentioned in Pro – Tip 8, you can use it from 1 metre up to over 100 metres, according to the individual. The power is not essential, accuracy is !
Everyone has basically 4 Gears. 1st – 2nd – 3rd - 4th
4th gear is your normal full backswing ( head high approx.) same F/through.
3rd gear would be a ¾ backswing ( shoulder high approx.) same F/through.
2nd gear only ½ a backswing ( waist high approx.) same F/through.
1st gear just a short backswing ( leg high approx.) same F/through.
Having the same length of backswing as the follow through helps you with your BALANCE !!! Hit 20 balls & learn one gear at a time, then you will begin to control that Pitching Wedge.
