Club President Report Well, our reopening on Tuesday went very well: players checked in with huge smiles on their faces – until they learnt their new WHS course handicaps, that is! As handicapper Robert Butler indicated a couple of weeks ago, a reduction of four shots makes it a very good round if you can score 36 Stableford points playing to your new course handicap! We have had about 100 players take advantage of the great weather on our first three days back, and I would like to thank them all for their patience as we bedded down our important player movement and registration procedures. Club President Report Firstly, a respectful salute to Anzac Day and in particular to all those who made the ultimate sacrifice allowing future generations the freedoms we enjoy and often take for granted – including the current luxury of worrying about whether or not we will be allowed to play golf during a world pandemic! It was a unique, moving and very special experience at 6am this morning standing outside our gate during the virtual Anzac Day service and seeing many neighbours up and down the street doing the same. Club President Report Course Closure Update Well we have made it through three weeks of the four week Covid-19 Level 4 lockdown period, so well done everyone - I hope John Garner’s Home Pro-tips are helping you through! With just under a week remaining now, it is not yet certain that the country, or perhaps some regions, will come out of Level 4 at midnight on 22 April. But even if so, a reduction to Level 3 is unlikely to allow golf to resume – we will rely on guidance from NZ Golf for that. And at Level 2, which I guess it is possible for Taranaki to go to straight from Level 4, we should be allowed to play again but there will almost certainly be some restrictions in place.
