Club Captains Report
Last Saturday was a lot calmer day than last week and the final round of Joll Cup Strokeplay was played with the top sixteen going into Matchplay this weekend.
We have also arranged a flight comp for the second sixteen so there will be 32 players in Matchplay mode.
The Saturday Haggle last weekend in the seniors Ivor (Champ) Sarten and Bruce Taylor led the day with plus 4, followed by Ian Titter plus 3, Kevin Mancer and Robert Butler plus 2, Gary Gazza (Raffleman) Crawford and young Kingston Voyle-Taylor plus 1.
In the second Div Ryan Wills plus 5, Michael Burkhart plus 3, Austin Wood plus 2 and by lot Richard Crowe, Barry Newlove, Rod Andrews, Greg Fowler all plus 1.
There were 3 two’s in the haggle, David (President) Butler, Martin Nobbs and Robert Butler.
12 prizes in the raffle and yes Gazza Crawford went home very happy with two of them.
This weekend’s haggle will be stableford and good luck to all those playing matches.

Boys Trip, Friday 1st, 2nd and 3rd November 2019.
Hi all, a reminder to all those that are coming on the boys’ trip in November. We need to make payments for accommodation and transport.
The total cost is $350.00 to be paid by August. Account number, TSB 15-3956-0654678-26 with your name please.
The cost includes golf at Waimarino, Turangi and Taumarunui. 2 nights at the Turangi Motor Lodge, meal on the Saturday night and transport.
So far we have 36 names, 40 will be the final number.

Wednesday Club
We finally got to play the second round of the Strokeplay, with some great numbers on a fine but chilling morning as there was a frost so play was delayed.
The best of the day by lot was Richard Crowe from Ryan Wills with a net of 68, Jim Newlove 69, Robin Broadmore, Wayne Kopu and Peter Loppy 70, John Rayner and Bill Wadsworth 72, Rod Andrews and Dave Yates 73, Robert Middleton, Austin Wood, Barry Newlove and John Chandler finished the day with 74 nett.
Rod Andrews had the only 2 and gets four golf balls,
Leading the Strokeplay is Robert Middleton on 138, Robin Broadmore 142, Jim Newlove 143, John Chandler 144.
Raffle winners, Carl Beale, Austin Wood, John Chandler, John Rayner, Barry Newlove, Peter Loppy, Bob Crow, Rod Andrews and Jim Dawson picked up 2.
There is NO Wednesday Club next week 26th, BUT we have five teams playing in the Taranaki Green keeper’s day.
This is a mass start at 11am, please be there at 10 30, teams of six, $10.00 each.

Saturday Ladies
Good golfing weather on Saturday but a small turn out for the ladies. The competition was Fraser Trophy-eclectic to be played over 2 rounds.
Jude Mita collected the days $5.00 voucher with a net 75. Putting points went to: Jude Mita 3pts-31 putts, Jo Broadmore 2pts-32 putts and Andrea Fraser & Nicole Mancer 1pt each for 33 putts. Jude also got the drawn two for another $5.00 voucher. The 2nd round of the Fraser Trophy will be played this Saturday.
Dot Bowers won the 9 Hole competition with 13 Stbf. The 9 Hole competition this Saturday is Starters Choice.

Tuesday Ladies
What a beautiful day for golf. Blue sky, sunshine and no wind. Just wish the golf was as good as the weather. The 9 Holers played Net + Putts and the $5 voucher goes to Colleen with a score of 56. Your putting results were : Colleen 3 pts for 15, Terri 2 pts for 17 and Dot 1 pt for 19.
The 18 Holers played the final round of the Barclay Cup which was won by Bev Hall. Pauline wins the $5 voucher for 1st division and Bev won the 2nd division voucher. Putting results were: Marie 3pts for 30, Pauline 2 for 31 and Jo 1 for 32.
The raffle was won by Lesley and 2s were drawn with Marie & Helen W the lucky ones.
Next week we are playing LGU & Home Pennant & Bleakley Tray Rnd 2 and the starter is Helen J.
PRO – TIP
THE GRIP is the most important part of making a golfer. Your hands control the club which in turn hits the ball. There are 4 main grips each one is chosen to suit the size & strength of each individual golfer.
The club is held in the fingers, not the palm, & you must have the thumbs & forefingers touching to form the “ 2 v’s .” This is the crease of your skin which should point over your right shoulder (right hander.)
The right V is called the TRIGGER. Anything short of these basics definitely restricts you becoming a golfer. If you have a good grip there is no restriction on how good a golfer you will be ......... “so get a GRIP !!”
