See you all again next week.
We were lucky to have a breezy but sunny day to play the annual challenge between the Weekend Pennant team and the midweek ladies on Saturday.
The Weekend Ladies team were again too strong for the midweek team winning 4/2.
Results were: Weekend names first, Nicole lost to Christine 3/1, Lesley lost to Jo.F 1down, Marie won 2up against Jocelyn, Jo.B won over Helen J.4/3 , Kath won 3/2 over Robyn and Trish won 1up over Helen W. Thanks to Jo Foreman and Joy East for organising the teams.
Next Saturday the18 hole competition is LGU, Home Pennant and the 3rd round of the Bleakley Tray all nett. The 9-hole competition is stableford.
Only a few hardy ladies turned up for golf as the forecast was terrible. We decided to play 9 holes and had a super day with no rain and quite pleasant conditions. Could easily have done the 18 as it turned out. We were supposed to play an LGU round, but Tuesday players can play it this Saturday if wished.
A committee meeting was scheduled for 11.30 and what a lovely surprise we had.
Jan, our lovely caterer, came back to make us a batch of scones as we sent her home earlier, so with our coffee we had lovely hot scones, butter and jam. Yum. Thank you so much Jan, we really appreciated your kindness.
Next week is 2nd round of the Manukorihi Cup and the starter is Fay.
PRO – TIP
The Pitching Wedge is the most flexible club in your golf bag. As I mentioned in Pro – Tip 8 you can use it from 1 metre up to over 100 metres according to the individual. The power is not essential, accuracy is !
Everyone has basically 4 Gears. 1 – 2 – 3 – 4.
4th gear is your normal full backswing ( head high approx.) same F/through
3rd gear would be a ¾ backswing ( shoulder high approx.) same F/through
2nd gear only ½ a backswing ( waist high approx.) same F/through
1st gear just a short backswing ( leg high approx.) same F/through
Having the same length of backswing as the follow through helps you with your BALANCE!!! Hit 20 balls & learn one gear at a time, then you will begin to control that Pitching Wedge.
Good Luck & Good Golfing
Professional John Garner.
